ATI uses XT for a higher-clocked version of a card, and now nVidia uses it for a lower-clocked version. I doubt that. It might beat it in some DX8 tests and DX7 tests, but who wants a next generation card for those games when the ti and the ti run those games fine?
Nvidia still has to run games in lower FP and hybrid shader operations to run DX9 games properly. This has already been seen. And even in this article is a worrysome issue for the XT. Yes, if you want a cheap top performing DX7, DX8 class card, then look no further then this card.
What you are all quick to forget it just how weak the card really is. They had to compare it to a XT in order to see it succeed. The is intended as competition for the and series. If the next Catalysts did that, the Nvidia people would riot in the street, screaming about optimizations and whatnot.

Im running a G3ti and would love to upgrade, but feel its just a short time until the next gen games hit that will actually require an upgrade — Id hate to sell myself short by upgrading prematurely. The screen shots posted above are from Ubisoft's recently released tactical shooter, FarCry. As you can see, the game looks great, except for a weird lighting problem with the trees off in the distance in the third shot. There seems to be a bug in either NVIDIA's drivers, or the game itself that causes some trees to blend nicely into the fog, while others are too bright and stick out like a sore thumb. With the screen resolution set to x, we enabled 4X Anti-Aliasing with 8X Anisotropic filtering and enjoyed a few hours of gaming.
